Honoring our Wounded Warrior Project

On Sunday March 14, 2010 the Northwest Side Irish will host their 8th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This year’s celebration will include a tribute to our Illinois Wounded Warriors. NWSI 2010 Grand Marshal is Danny McMulin of Danny Boys Corned Beef. Danny has contributed over five thousand pounds of corned beef to NWSI over the past five years to help support the parade and the charities they have supported; McMulin is also a Marine Veteran.

NWSI will also pay tribute to the Wounded Warrior Project. U.S. Marine Corp Veteran Chad Watson will be honored as the 2010 NWSI Humanitarian of the Year for his courage and bravery in returning home from Iraq. A U.S. Marine Corps Veteran who lost his leg while serving his country in Fallujah. His dedication and commitment to the Wounded Warrior Project is a story of inspiration. (Review the attached bio)

Over 150 parade participants with thousands of spectators will attend the Northwest Side Irish friends and family Parade.

Governor Pat Quinn, Secretary of State Jesse White, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky and extended legislators as well labor affiliates such as the Teamsters and SEIU will join in celebration at the parade and official after party to celebrate Irish Heritage as well as honor our Wounded Warrior Project. Special guest honoring Chad Watson is Lt. General Ron Coleman, retired three star general making a special visit from Washington D. C. and presentation on behalf of the United States Marine Corp.

The parade participants include The Jesse White Tumblers, The Emerald Society Band, Mullane Irish Dancers, St. Patrick’s High School Jazz Band, Forman High School ROTC, Notre Dame High School Band, Trinity Irish Dancers and many more community friends and families.

The parade will kick off at 12:00pm at 6633 W. Raven (Onahan School) and will run south up Neola Avenue to Northwest Highway north to Harlem Avenue, ending at Harlem Avenue. The Official NWSI After Party will take place at 6211 W. Talcott at Immaculate Conception Elementary School Recreation Center. Tickets for the after party are 10:00 per person includes a Danny Boy Corned Beef and cabbage dinner, beer, wine and soda. 5:00 for children 10 and under includes hot dog, chips and a soda. Begins at 1:00 to 5:00pm
