NorthWest Side Irish St. Patrick’s Day Parade – 33/16/08

On Sunday March 16, 2007 the NorthWest Side Irish will be hosting its fifth annual NorthWest Side Irish Saint Patrick’s Day parade. The parade will take place at 12:00pm and will kick off from 6633 W. Raven. Please review the enclosed map for more information on the parade route.

In tradition with our previous parades NWSI will be recognizing and supporting extended charitable communities and organizations. Our Grand Marshal for 2008 is our dear friend and Northwest Side supporter President Terrence O’Brien. Terry is the President of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. www.mwrdgc.dst.il.us

Terry is a longtime friend of the NWSI and a resident of the Edgebrook community, another community that has embraced and supported the NWSI parade. We hope you can all join us in honoring President O’Brien for his years of service to the City of Chicago, as well as his commitment and support to the local Northwest Side community. We are privileged and honored to have President O’Brien as our 2008 Grand Marshal.

We will also be recognizing and raising awareness for the Teamsters Helmets to Hardhats program. This is a program within the Teamster community that assists our returning Veterans with career opportunities. The Helmets to Hardhats program has assisted many of our Chicago Veterans in transitioning their military skills into the civilian sector with outstanding careers for their future. It is a national program that the Chicago Teamsters have embraced and provided many of our local Veterans with extended support in fulfilling careers for their future. Through the efforts of Teamsters Joint Council 25 andd President Yauger, Chicago is now the role model for the national Helmets to Hardhats campaign.

Teamsters Local 786 President Michael Yauger will be honored as our 2008 Humanitarian of the Year for his efforts in supporting the program as a liaison for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Human Rights Commission and Teamsters Joint Council 25 liaison for the Helmets to Hardhats program. For more information wwww.chicagoteamsters.org

“As a Vietnam Veteran myself I know the struggles and challenges these retuning veterans are faced with. It is our duty to support those who have honorably served this country” says Yauger.

As an Irish community we all have an obligation to remember and support the families of our active military, the families of the fallen hero’s and our Veteran community throughout the year.

This year we will also recognize a Humanitarian group. Don’t be fooled by the name. They are another NWSI supporting community that works through out the year to support those in need and those less fortunate with food banks, funds and extended needs in what ever the cause is. We are honored to support their efforts to the Irish community. They work hand in hand with the Western Catholic Union. For more information www.irishclowns.org .

The official NWSI after party will take place at Norwood Park Dodge 6333 N. NorthWest Hwy. immediately following the parade. In tradition we will have live entertainment, food and drinks. Tickets are $25.00 per person / $5.00 for eight years old and under. www.norwoodparkdodge.com.

We are now accepting donations for the NWSI raffle after party. Monetary donations as well as raffle prizes are now being accepted. The cost of the parades escalates each year; your extended support assists us in providing the Northwest Side Community with great tradition. To make a donation please call Elizabeth Murray 773‐678‐7026 or Brian Murray 312‐731‐5059 or visit our website at www.northwestsideirish.org. Thank you in advance for all of your support.

Sincerely,

Daniel Murray
